Kelly joined our team just a short while ago, but she has proven to be a great addition! Our guests have fallen in love with her upbeat personality and occasional silly antics. We sat down to ask her a few questions about herself, and here is what she had to say!
Gables: Where did you grow up?
Kelly: 40 Minutes down Rt.1 in Drexel Hill, PA.
G: Did you eat your veggies as a kid? Were you a picky eater growing up?
K: I was ( and still am) a picky eater. Texture is a problem for me. My Aunt taught me how to swallow peas whole when I was about 5 years old.
G: Favorite food? What food can you just not stand?
K: Bacon and pickles! Maybe not in the same bit, but then again, why not? I don’t like chicken legs. We ate those a lot growing up and when I figured out those were tendons attaching the meat to the bone, it was a big gross out factor for me.
G: Favorite wine?
K: That depends on the meal. For pure enjoyment, a lighter style Spanish white.
G: Funniest work incident?
K: I was heading into our Banquet Room the other night and Tommy, our 16 year old jack-of-all-trades, was leaving the Banquet Room but not looking where he was going. I gave a short whistle to let him know I was there so he didn’t bump into me and I guess I scared him because he ended up punching me in the stomach! Not hard, but a funny response to being frightened.
G: How many cups of coffee do you have to drink in the morning before you feel ready to face the world?
K: I don’t drink coffee, never have. I don’t even like the smell!
G: If you had a time machine, where would you go?
K: The late 50’s, early 60’s. I like the dresses from that time period.
G: If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
K: Sew? I hate shopping, I’d rather create my own clothes.
G: How long have you worked in the hospitality industry?
K: 20 years. I started out as a server at a chain restaurant in 1995.
G: If you didn’t work as an events coordinator, what would you have chosen as a career and why?
K: If I had the talent, I’d like to write novels.
G: What do you do for fun?
K: I forget what fun is! Travel, but I haven’t done much of that recently. When I get some quiet time, I like to sit out on my deck and read.
G: What would you have as your last meal?
K: No chicken, chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese…with bacon and pickles.
G: What would your superhero name be?
K: Ms. Sarcastic –what I say could be funny.
